5-7 April 2024, a major cycle tourism gathering was held in the beautiful city of Bologna in Italy. I was actually cycling at the time was unable to attend, but I am wholly passionate about cycle tourism as one of the most sustainable (and healthy) method of seeing the world that I am sharing this press release with you!

Bologna Cycle Tourism Show in Italy
The Bologna Cycle Tourism Show in Italy has come to a close with an increasingly attentive public in search of routes, opportunities as well as services tailored to the needs of bicycle travelers.
The Exhibition opened the Cycle Tourism Forum on Friday, 5 th April, attended by over a thousand cycle tourism professionals and operators who get to know each other at this gathering point, create networks, and find shared solutions to common problems. The Cycle Tourism Forum offered an eagle eye focus from local to international realities thanks to the experiences held in Tuscany, Flanders, and Gran Canaria, as well as the presence of 15 European buyers. All highlighting the development of new business models in overcrowded training sessions dedicated to hotel managers wanting to attract more cyclists, including those willing to start up a bicycle rental business and benefit from the growth of the sector thanks to contacts with bicycle manufacturers attending.
For the occasion, a ‘Cycling Tourism Guide’ was designed; a list of over 100 operators attending the event aimed at encouraging contacts among professionals.
The Cycle Tourism Show took place over the following two days, Saturday 6 th and Sunday 7 th April, and registered more than 15,000 participants. Once again, this year it confirmed being the reference point for the national and international active tourism sector, a meeting platform for territories, operators and for those who choose cycling as their holiday.
An attentive audience from all over Italy attended the pavilions of the DumBO space over the weekend and collected ideas from the exhibition areas of the Regions of Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, Piedmont, Apulia, Sicily, Tuscany, and Veneto; Italian regions that are increasingly investing and organizing new proposals, new itineraries, new services, and infrastructures for cycle tourism.
Among the foreign destinations are Spain, Catalonia, Gran Canaria, Algarve in Portugal, Turkey, Flanders, Croatia, Slovenia, Belgium, and Jordan; countries and regions that have been able to exploit their natural and tourist resources and become popular destinations for those who love discovering their territories by bicycle.
The guided bike tours, organized to discover the city, were also appreciated, and sold out, thanks to collaboration with Bologna Welcome and eXtraBO. How to organize a bike trip, such as nutrition, training, luggage preparation, and much more; Bikeitalia’s practical workshops were very well attended by those who in search of practical
information on how to improve organizing their trip.
The bike stalls with test ride area and accessories were most popular and well visited. The bike and service brands made available were Canyon, Gazelle, Ducati, Bergamont, BRN, Repower and others.
The Cycle Tourism Show looks forward to 2025.
